CAP Projects, stress, deadlines ungh

15 10 2008

Well, being that I am a member of the Americorps, I am a full time member/volunteer. We work full time in positions that attempt to give back to the communities in which we live. For most members, its for long hours, and for very little pay. But hey, that is not the point.

Members are required to do, during their Term of Service, a Community Action Project. The project is planned during the majority of the term, then is executed at some point during the latter half. CAP projects are usually large enough that they require volunteers, budgets…all that fun stuff. This is all on top of what we are working on with our work sites. We get about 440 hours to work on this thing during the term, whew.

So, I’m a couple weeks from DEADLINE ONE, which requires me to have some of the planning already done…which is hard for one such as I who is not really creative in this department. So far, I have an idea of where I would like to do a project (West Central Neighborhood), but not much beyond that.

I’m not nervous yet, but November 1st is getting closer than I would like…

In other news, Jessica and I are going to another married couple’s house tonight for dinner (after we do some volunteer work). I’m pretty dang pumped for this, being that it is my FAVORITE DINNER EVER. Every year my brother and I convinceĀ  our mother to make it for our birthdays. We love it that much.
